Welcome to the Salmon Stewardship Centre

The Salmon Stewardship Centre (SSC) is an exciting potential project in the early stages of development, focused on the restoration, conservation, and stewardship of Yukon River Chinook salmon populations. Located in the Southern Lakes region, the Centre aims to become a hub for community-driven salmon conservation, educational programs, and the integration of traditional ecological knowledge.

Our Vision

The Salmon Stewardship Centre is committed to fostering a strong relationship between the Southern Lakes First Nations and their natural environment. By combining traditional knowledge and modern science, we aim to create a sustainable future for salmon and strengthen the cultural connection to these vital ecosystems.

Why Get Involved?

Although the project is still in its early stages, input from KDFN, TKC and C/TFN citizens is crucial in shaping its future. This is our opportunity to ensure the SSC reflects the needs, priorities, and values of the Southern Lakes First Nations and our communities. Through engagement, citizens will help guide the feasibility study and ensure the Centre, if approved, meets the collective vision of the community.
